It’s Book fair this week - come along and take a look!


Book Fair
  • The Scholastic Book Fair will be in our  library from 14th August -18th August
  • The opening times are from 8.30 - 4.00 every day of week 4
  • Come along and have a look at the wonderful books for sale and lots of other exciting things to buy
Tennis sessions
  • H.P.S. is lucky to have a series of free tennis  sessions for our students.
  • Howick Tennis Club  is providing these free lessons to introduce our students to tennis
  • Lessons will go from weeks 3-8
  • Each class will have 6 lessons.
  • Room 9's lessons will be on Thursdays .
  • Children can bring a change of clothes - t-shirt, shorts and a pair of sports shoes.
  • If your child would like to continue playing tennis, a flyer will come home with them detailing the information
Fun Run
  • Have you started collecting sponsors yet?
  • Fill in the back of the booklet with the names of your sponsors
  • Once you have done the run - you need to collect  the money from your sponsor and bring it back to school and put it in the PTA box outside the office
  • We have sent a copy of the sponsor form last week in case you needed another copy
  • Don’t forget to choose your prize!!
Reminder
  • School starts at 8.50 a.m. and all students are expected to be in the classroom by then.
  • The classroom is open from 8.30 a.m. which, from Monday next week, will be signalled by a bell.
  • The cloak bays will be open prior to 8.30.
  • Please note, the children are not to be in the classroom prior to 8.30, as the teachers need time to prepare for the day.  
Farewell Assembly
  • You are warmly invited to attend Mrs. Gosnell's Farewell Assembly which is in the hall on Friday 18th August at 2 p.m.
HPS Got Talent
  • On Wednesday 16th August the Student Leaders are presenting the very first ‘HPS GOT Talent’
  • All children and parents are invited to come along and watch the ‘acts’
  • Tickets available at the door for $2 per person and this includes popcorn
Up and coming event - support the PTA
  • The PTA is hosting a quiz night on 25th August
  • $15 per head on tables of 8
  • Food and drink available

Our latest sporting activity

This time - we are having a go at playing Tennis. Coach Aaron from Howick Tennis Club has come to give us some lessons. We had our first session last Thursday and we learned to play the game 'roll and splat'

Book Fair
  • The Scholastic Book Fair is being held in our school library in week 4 of this term - more information about this exciting event will be available in the next few weeks
Bake Sale
  • The next Bake sale is on Thursday 10th August  - please bring a $2 OR $1 coin ONLY

Footsteps
Lessons
  • Thank you to the parents who have already paid for their child to attend the Footsteps Dance Programme.
  • Footsteps is an activity to support The Arts, Health and Physical Education curriculum that is over and above what happens in the classroom.  
  • If you haven't paid yet, but wish your child to participate in this exciting opportunity, please send the money and reply slip in an envelope to your class teacher or you can pay by eftpos at the office or via internet banking. The account number 12 3089 0282406 00. Please add your child’s name and footsteps as a reference.
3pm hometime
  • For the safety of the children, we ask that all children in Y0-2 are collected by a parent/family member or sibling from the classroom.
  • Please contact the school office if someone else other than you will be collecting your child, the office will then inform the class teacher
litterless lunches
  • One way to help us reduce litter at school is for each child to try and have a litterless lunch.
  • Please take items out of their packets at home and put only food in lunchboxes.
  • Reusable containers are great for keeping the food fresh.
Whizz Kids Science Programme
  • For those children who have signed up for this programme will start their lessons this week.  
  • Please refer to the letter sent home to those children’s parents last Friday for details.
Road Safety
  • Please ensure you use the pedestrian crossing at the front of the school, go through the gate and down the path to keep our students safe.
  • Please help us keep the children safely away from the carpark entrance.
Assembly
  • Don’t forget that it’s whole school assembly at 2.00 on Thursday afternoons, we would love for you to come along and celebrate with us

Kia ora everyone! Welcome back to Term 3 in the Junior Team. Please make a note of the important dates and events coming up this week.

Welcome
  • Welcome to our new families who are starting with us in Term 3.  It is great to have you join our Howick Primary School family.  
Supervision Slips
  • Please return your child’s supervision slip as soon as possible to the teacher
  • We need to know the number of children who require supervision on 27th July
School closing early
due to
conferences
  • Don't forget - on Thursday 27th July school closes early at 12.30pm due to the 3 Way Conferences
  • If you haven't booked your time yet, you can still do so.

  • If you don’t have internet access at home, you can book online at the office
  • Please remember each child attends their conference with their parent/s and their teacher.

Whizz Kids Science Programme
  • They will be launching their programme for Year 3-6 students on Thursday 3rd August (Term 3, Week 2)
  • The programme runs after school from 3:30-4:30 for 5 consecutive weeks.
  • An extra copy of the letter is in this email if you wish to sign your child up.
